To blow out eggs, you need to make a hole in one end, poke a needle through the egg to pierce the yolk and use a thin drinking straw to blow the egg out. The hole must be big enough for this to be possible.

Afterwards you should run water into the eggshell to remove any egg traces. Finally, microwave the eggshells for fifteen seconds to dry them and strengthen them.

What you will need:

  • 12 eggs
  • 4 packages Knox gelatin
  • 1 package strawberry jello
  • 1 package blueberry jello
  • 1 package orange jello
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice

How to make them:

Add a cup of boiling water to each jello flavor and stir well until the jello powder dissolves. Dissolve the gelatin in the cold water and stir in the lemon juice. Mix a third of this mixture into each jello and boiling water mixture. Blow out the eggs by making a hole in the base and letting the raw egg run out.

Pour the liquid jello into the eggshells and store them hole side up in the egg box in the refrigerator until the jello sets. This will take a couple of hours. Take the jello eggs out of the refrigerator half an hour before serving them and peel them like hard boiled eggs.

Serve them on some green colored coconut flakes. You can make these by stirring a few drops of green food coloring into a dish of coconut flakes.

2 eggs

2 1/2 cups of flour (American bread flour or grade 00 Italian flour)

3 tablespoons of cold water

Preparation:

1. Put the flour on a work surface (countertop or a bread-board) and form a mound. Make a well in the middle of it, and pour the eggs into it.

2. Add the salt and the water, and mix all together until you have a smooth paste which you can roll out. Knead the dough for about ten to fifteen minutes.

3. Flour your countertop, use a rolling-pin and roll the dough out very thin, flouring it as necessary, about the thickness of a dime. Let it stay spread out like this until it dries a little.

FOR MEAT FILLING

Ingredients:

cooked meat (turkey, chicken, veal); you can also use left-over meat

1 egg

1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese

a pinch of grated lemon zest

a pinch of nutmeg

1 tablespoon of butter

Preparation:

1. Finely chop the meat and put in a bowl. Add egg, grated Parmesan cheese, a pinch of nutmeg, a pinch of grated lemon zest, and a tablespoon of cold butter. Mix all ingredients.

2. Take about a teaspoon of the filling and put it into the paste sheet, out two inches from the margin of the sheet. Take another spoonful of filling and put it about two inches away from the first scoop. Continue doing like this until you have a row of scoops across the paste. Carefully fold the pasta over the spoonfuls of filling.

3. Then start cutting the ravioli out by slicing between the filling pillows to get individual pockets. Edges should be well pressed together so that the meat filling cannot fall out when the ravioli are cooked.

4. Cook the meat ravioli in a large quantity of boiling salted water and boil for ten minutes. Serve with tomato sauce, or with butter and grated Parmesan cheese.

  2. Add 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream to each shell.
  3. In a bowl, crumble the Oreo cookies.
  4. Sprinkle the crumbles on each scoop of ice cream to create a black furry looking spider body.
  5. Put the filled shells in the freezer for 30 minutes or until ice cream is hardened.
  6. Remove from the freezer and press 2 red M&M's into the front of each scoop for the spider's eyes.
  7. Cut the licorice strips into fourths.
  8. Press 8 strips of licorice into each ice cream scoop to form the spider's legs.
  9. Return to the freezer until ready to serve.

Ingredients

  • 3 (48 ounce) cans pineapple juice
  • 1 (2 liter) lemon lime soda
  • 1 large package strawberry or cherry flavored drink mix
  • 1 can frozen strawberries
  • 12 - 24 gummy worms

Directions

  1. Place a gummy worm in an ice cube tray (1 in each tray). Fill with water and freeze.
  2. Mix all other ingredients together and chill.
  3. Once the ice cubes (with the gummy worms) are frozen, place in the punch and serve.

  • Yellow, orange, red and blue food coloring
  • 18 gum drop fruit slices
  • 1 can vanilla frosting
  • 1 package mini chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Roll out the cookie dough on a flat surface. You can flour the surface to prevent sticking.
  2. Use gingerbread men cutters and cut out 18 shapes.
  3. Place the cutouts onto a baking sheet and bake according the directions on the package.
  4. Remove the cookies and cool to room temperature on a wire rack.
  5. Using a small bowl, mix the coconut and yellow food coloring to achieve a straw like color.
  6. To make the scarecrow hats place the gum drops on a lightly sugared surface and press and roll them flat.
  7. Using a butter knife, cut hat shapes for each flattened gum drop.
  8. Place the vanilla frosting evenly into 3 separate bowls.
  9. Add drops of orange, red and blue food coloring into each of the bowls (one color per bowl).
  10. After the cookies have cooled, frost each cookie with the blue and red frosting making the shirts and pants. Make some shirts blue and pants red and with some shirts red and pants blue.
  11. Next frost the head, feet and hands with the orange frosting.
  12. Press your colored coconut into the hands and feet to form the straw.
  13. Place the hat onto the scarecrows head by placing a little orange frosting on the back of the hat and pressing it onto the scarecrow.
  14. Place 2 to 3 of mini chocolate chips down the front of the scarecrows shirt for buttons. Place chips on the head for the eyes, nose and mouth.

Makes 18 cookies.

Add food coloring to mixture. Salad should now be a pale pink color. Ladle mixture into 5 ounce serving or soufflé cups. Place in freezer and freeze overnight.

Defrost at least 15 minutes before serving. Garnish with dollops of whipped cream and cherries.

1 (30 oz.) can fruit cocktail, drained

1 box instant vanilla pudding

1 (7 oz.) can white tuna, drained and flaked
6 tablespoons mayonnaise or salad dressing

1/8 teaspoon dried minced onion flakes
1/4 teaspoon curry powder
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
1 pinch garlic powder

Directions

In a medium bowl, stir together the tuna, mayonnaise, Parmesan cheese, and onion flakes. Add in the curry powder, parsley, dill weed and garlic powder.

3/4 pound green beans, trimmed and snapped in half
1 (12 oz.) can solid white albacore tuna, drained
1 (16 oz.) can Great Northern beans, drained and rinsed
1 (2.25 oz.) can sliced black olives, drained
1/4 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
Salt and pepper to taste
4 large hard cooked eggs, peeled and quartered

Directions

Place green beans, 1/3 cup water and a large pinch of salt into a medium skillet. Cover, turn heat on high and bring water to a boil.

Once the beans start to steam, set the timer and cook until tender and crisp (about 5 minutes. Note: do not let the skillet run dry). Immediately dump the beans into a lipped cookie sheet that is lined with paper towels. Let cool.

In a bowl, combine the tuna, olives and onion.

In another bowl, whisk together the oregano, oil, lemon juice and zest. Pour over the tuna mixture; gently stirring. Add salt and pepper to taste. Arrange a portion of the tuna salad, green beans and hard cooked eggs onto 4 plates.

How to Make Your Own Homemade Cookie Bouquets

We've all seen them. Clusters of big, gourmet cookies, individually wrapped in shiny, colored cellophane, with bows and ribbons. They come in many styles and with different treats, toys or gift items attached to or inside a basket or vase of some sort. They make a terrific and edible gift idea. After all, who doesn't love cookies? Sadly, they can be very expensive gifts, especially when considering that cookies don't cost a whole lot to bake.

Here's how to make your own cookie bouquets at home without spending a fortune!

What You Will Need:

How to Make Your Own Homemade Cookie Bouquets

* Chopsticks or Wooden Skewers - Make sure they are heat-proof. If you're baking smaller cookies, then Popsicle sticks would also work.
* Cookies - Find a delicious cookie recipe that makes larger size cookies, your favorite or your gift recipients favorite will do fine.
* Container - This needs to be a sturdy container that is a bit bottom heavy, especially if you plan to include more than a few big cookies. You can try putting some pebbles in the bottom to make sure the container won't tip over, if needed. Some ideas for containers include: a coffee mug, a metal or plastic pail, a basket, a vase, a planter, cookie jar or glass jar, glass bottle, a toy or wood box of some sort, teapot, porcelain or pottery serving ware.
* Cellophane - The shiny, colored kind looks best, but the colored plastic wrap you get at your local supermarket would work too.
* Ribbon - The curly kind works well for this. Any colors you like.
* Decorations - Anything goes! What's appropriate to the occasion and what does the gift recipient like? Some ideas include: stuffed animals, small toys, candy, balloons, fake or real flowers, stickers or whatever you find at the local craft store.
* Block of Styrofoam or florists foam - You know that stereo you bought last December? You probably kept the box, just search your garage for some spare, clean, Styrofoam.
* Something to cover up the Styrofoam or florist's foam - You can use a big ribbon, some moss, plastic grass, tissue paper crumpled up or whatever else you have handy.

Instructions:

1. When you place the cookie dough on the cookie sheet, press the dough down a bit to flatten it so that it doesn't spread too much while baking and so that the stick can be inserted properly. Before you bake the cookies, you must insert the chopstick or wooden skewer into one side of each cookie. Push it in almost the length of the cookie without going out the other end. This is an important step, as if your cookie is too big and your stick is not sturdy enough, it simply won't hold it and the cookie may fall apart when you pick it up. When baking big cookies, you probably won't be able to fit more than 3 cookies with their sticks to a sheet.

2. After baking the cookies with their sticks, cool the cookies thoroughly, then wrap each one with the colored cellophane. A different color for each cookie would be ok, or all the same color appropriate to the occasion. Tie each one with some curly ribbon at the base where the stick comes out of the cookie. Tie it very tightly so the cookies will stay fresh on the stick. You can adorn each cookie with additional, larger ribbons or bows at this point. When using curly ribbon, don't forget to curl it!

3. Now cut your Styrofoam or florist's foam to the size of the top of the container you chose. Then fit the foam in so it is nice and tight and near the top of the container. Remember, you can place something heavier in the bottom of the container so that it does not tip over. Small pebbles work well for this. Remember that the sticks will poke through the foam and into the bottom of the container.

4. Here comes the fun part, let's assemble the cookie bouquet! Take each of your cookies and stick them through the foam so they go all the way through the foam and further, near to the bottom of the container. You can assemble the cookies in any manner you like, but most cookie bouquets have one cookie at the center that is taller than the other cookies, so keep that in mind. Decorate with additional ribbons, toys, candy, flowers, gifts etc. Each item can be attached with additional ribbon to the container or the sticks of the cookies or even with a glue gun (if appropriate).

5. Give your gift and watch the smiles! Make sure to give the bouquet as soon as possible after you have assembled it, you don't want the cookies to go stale!

Tips:

Make sure you bake enough cookies for your container, if baking small cookies, you may run out if you are filling a large container. Always bake more than enough. Surely your extras won't go to waste.

Bake both large and small cookies and use them both in the bouquet for a nice varied look like a more traditional flower bouquet.

More Ideas:

Some cookie bouquets use cutout cookies, these can be fun to make and decorate. Use your favorite sugar cookie cutout recipe and cut into shapes appropriate for the occasion. For cutout cookies to work, you may want to double your sugar cookie recipe as the cookies need to be nice and thick for the stick to go through them. For this type of cookie, wooden skewers will work best, chopsticks may be too thick. Then decorate the cookies with frosting. No need for colored cellophane with these cookies, use regular plastic wrap or clear cellophane so that the beauty of your hand decorated cookies shines through.

Remember, your cookie bouquet doesn't need to look professional, it's the homemade touch that makes it a truly special gift.

4. Sift the flours together

5. Add the flour gradually to the cheese mixture
6. Beat on a low speed, until just combined

7. Divide the mixture evenly between the 12 muffin tins

8. Bake for 25 minutes until firm to touch

9. Allow to cool for a few minutes and then transfer to a wire rack

Yields: 12 cupcakes

Frost with purchased lemon frosting. Enjoy

Ingredients:

  • *5 oz. Butter - softened
  • *5 oz. superfine sugar
  • *6 oz. self-raising flour

3. Crack the eggs into a cup and beat lightly with a fork

4. Place all the ingredients in a large bowl

5. Beat with an electric mixer for 2 minutes, until light and creamy

6. Divide the mixture in the muffin pan

7. Bake for 18-20 minutes until risen and firm to touch

8. Allow to cool for a few minutes and then transfer to a wire rack

9. Allow to cool fully before applying the frosting

Yields: 12 cupcakes
